"This Time the Dream's on Me" is a jazz standard with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by Johnny Mercer. It was written for the 1941 film Blues in the Night, in which Priscilla Lane sang it. The original performance is dated to June 1941, but the recording was first released on the 1986 compilation Swing Jackpot - Unissued Big Band Treasures 1941-1944.
In 1941 two versions became hits: Glenn Miller, with a vocal by Ray Eberle, peaked at No. 11, and Woody Herman reached No. 8. Later recordings include versions by Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald on her Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer songbook albums (1961 and 1964), Tony Bennett (1961), Nancy Wilson (1960), Anthony Newley (1960), June Christy, Kenny Burrell and Alison Krauss. The song has English lyrics.
