"Good Morning Heartache" is an English-language song in twelve-bar blues form, with music by Irene Higginbotham and Dan Fisher and lyrics by Ervin Drake. Billie Holiday recorded it on 22 January 1946, and Decca issued her version as a single later that year, with "No Good Man" on the B-side. She was accompanied by Bill Stegmeyer and His Orchestra, with Chris Griffin and Joe Guy on trumpets, Sidney Catlett on drums and Tiny Grimes on guitar, among others. The recording runs three minutes and five seconds.
In 1972 Diana Ross recorded the song at Motown for the soundtrack of the film Lady Sings the Blues. Many other singers have recorded it since, including Carmen McRae, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Sam Cooke, Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole and Gladys Knight. The song is classed as jazz and blues. The title is shared with a 2008 film of the same name.
