"Am I Blue?" is a 1929 popular song with music by Harry Akst and lyrics by Grant Clarke. It was published by M. Witmark & Sons in 1929. Ethel Waters sang it in the film "On with the Show" (1929), and the song was featured in four films that year. Her recording was made in New York on 14 May 1929 and released later that year as a single, coupled with "Birmingham Bertha". The single was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007. The song became a standard, and later versions were recorded by Eddie Cochran, whose 1957 rockabilly version was the B-side of Liberty 55087, and by Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole and Willie Nelson. The song entered the US public domain on 1 January 2025.
