"Central Park West" is a jazz standard composed by the American saxophonist John Coltrane. It is an instrumental piece with a 10-bar form in B major, played as a ballad and built on Coltrane changes, an ascending cycle of minor thirds (B, D, F, A♭, B) altered to B, D, A♭, F, B so that the modulation alternates minor thirds and tritones. The earliest recorded performance is dated 24 October 1960. The piece first appeared on Coltrane's 1964 studio album Coltrane's Sound, recorded at Atlantic Studios during the sessions for My Favorite Things and released in June 1964 on Atlantic Records, produced by Nesuhi Ertegün. The album was assembled after Coltrane had left Atlantic for Impulse! Records. The running time is 4:16. Notable later recordings include versions by Jack DeJohnette (1980), Pharoah Sanders (1981), Joe Lovano (1992), Everette Harp (2009), Avishai Cohen (2013), Glenn Zaleski (2017) and José James (2018).
