"Something" was written by George Harrison, the Beatles' lead guitarist, and appeared on the band's album Abbey Road, released on 26 September 1969. It was issued as a double A-side single with "Come Together" two weeks after the album. Music historians widely regard it, together with Harrison's other Abbey Road contribution "Here Comes the Sun", as the point at which Harrison's songwriting reached the level of Lennon and McCartney. It was his first composition to be a Beatles A-side. The single topped the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, peaked at number 4 in the United Kingdom, and charted in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and West Germany.
Later versions include recordings by Frank Sinatra, Joe Cocker, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, Diana Ross, Paul McCartney and Norah Jones.
