"Mahjong" is an instrumental composition by Wayne Shorter. It was recorded on 3 August 1964 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, by Shorter, and first released on the album JuJu, issued by Blue Note in July 1965 and produced by Alfred Lion. The track, about 7:39 long, is the first song on the album's second side.
The rhythm section was McCoy Tyner on piano, Reggie Workman on bass and Elvin Jones on drums, all of whom had worked with John Coltrane. The album is described as post-bop, modal jazz and hard bop. DownBeat gave it three stars out of five, and the Rolling Stone Jazz Record Guide gave it four. Later versions include recordings by Nick Brignola, Andrea Keller, The Marty Sheller Ensemble and Karolina Almgren Projekt.
