"Marie" is an English-language popular song with words and music by Irving Berlin, published in 1928. The earliest recording traced is by The Troubadours, with a vocal refrain by Lewis James, made for Victor on 18 October 1928 and issued as a 78 rpm single. Rudy Vallée, Nat Shilkret, Franklyn Baur and The Four Tunes also recorded it in the 1920s and 1950s. The best-known version is Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra's 1937 recording, with Jack Leonard on vocals, which helped make the song a hit.
The song became a jazz and big-band standard, performed in a swing-era ballad style both as a vocal number and as an instrumental piece. Recordings include versions by Louis Armstrong, the Mills Brothers (1940), Bill Haley and His Comets, Ray Charles and Willie Nelson.
