"Oceano" is a song written by the Brazilian singer-songwriter Djavan, who is credited as its sole writer, with Portuguese lyrics. Djavan recorded it in 1989, and it was released on his self-titled album Djavan, where it appears as track A2. The original recording received a nomination for the International Viewer's Choice award at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards. The song has also been performed on television talent shows in Brazil.
Later versions include recordings by Caetano Veloso (1992), Tim Maia (1995), Boca Livre (1997), Kate McGarry (2001), and Anna Luisa and Ângela Maria (2003). Richard Clayderman recorded an instrumental version in 1992. The covers come from singers of different generations, and the instrumental arrangement shows the melody's use outside the vocal repertoire.
