Setembro is a Brazilian MPB song written by Ivan Lins and Gilson Peranzzetta. Ivan Lins recorded it in 1980, and the recording was first released on his album Novo Tempo. It is a vocalise, sung without words, so the melody is carried entirely by wordless voice and no lyrics are attached to it.
Quincy Jones recorded a version in 1989 for his album Back on the Block, titled "Setembro (Brazilian Wedding Song)", with a vocalise arrangement. The track was also used on the soundtrack of the 1991 film Boyz n the Hood. Later versions include recordings by Pedro Aznar, Conexion Latina and Ran Blake, a 2012 recording by Marcus Miller featuring Gretchen Parlato and Rubén Blades, and a version by Ivan Lins with João Senise.
