Nikita is a song by Elton John with lyrics by Bernie Taupin. It was released as the lead single from John's nineteenth studio album, Ice on Fire (1985), by Rocket in October 1985. Gus Dudgeon produced the track, which features George Michael on backing vocals and Nik Kershaw on guitar. The soft rock song is in G major, in 4/4, with a verse-chorus form and an instrumental bridge. It reached number three in the UK and number seven in the US, was a top 10 hit worldwide and topped the charts of eight countries. Cash Box said it was as sensitive as its subject, and Billboard called it a lilting tune. The B-sides are "The Man Who Never Died" and "Restless". The music video, directed by Ken Russell, shows Anya Major as Nikita and Andreas Wisniewski as a male guard at a Berlin border crossing. John played the song live on the Ice on Fire tour, the Reg Strikes Back tour and into the mid-2000s.
