Homecoming is an instrumental jazz composition by the bassist Dave Holland, who is its sole writer. It has no lyrics and is classified in the contemporary jazz style. The Dave Holland Quintet first recorded it in 1985, and it was released on the album Seeds of Time, where it is the second track on side A. The song is in the key of E-flat.
The trio Gateway, made up of John Abercrombie on guitar, Dave Holland on bass and Jack DeJohnette on drums, recorded the piece in September 1995. That version gave its title to the ECM album Homecoming, released the same year. The guitarist Noël Akchoté also recorded the song, in 2016.
