"Hot Stuff" is a 1979 song written by Pete Bellotte, Harold Faltermeyer and Keith Forsey and produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. Released on April 13, 1979 by Casablanca Records as the lead single from Donna Summer's seventh studio album, Bad Girls, it was recorded at Rusk Sound in Los Angeles. At a time when Summer was mainly associated with disco, it showed a significant rock direction, including a guitar solo by Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. Billboard heard a "strong R&B, soulish feel", and Cash Box praised its "rock/disco sound".
It was the second of four Summer songs to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed at the top for three non-consecutive weeks. It also topped the US Dance Club Songs chart and reached No. 1 in Australia, Canada and Japan. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in the award's inaugural year, and Rolling Stone ranked it No. 104 in its 2010 list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It has appeared in the films The Full Monty and The Martian, and was playable in Just Dance 2.
