"Three Hours" is a song by Nick Drake, who wrote its music and lyrics. It is the third track on his debut album, Five Leaves Left, released by Island Records on 3 July 1969 and produced by Joe Boyd. The album was recorded at Sound Techniques in London between May 1968 and April 1969, with John Wood as engineer. The track runs 6:16. Danny Thompson plays double bass, Rocky Dzidzornu plays congas, and Drake plays acoustic guitar and sings, performing live with the string section without overdubbing. The song is in the folk idiom, and the sheet is in D. Reception of the album was mixed on release, but later assessments were warmer, and an NME retrospective in 1989 gave it 9/10. Later versions include recordings by Keith James, Beatrice Mason, Miriam Foresti, and John Parish with Aldous Harding.
