"Hyperballad" is a song by the Icelandic musician Björk, written by her alone. She co-produced it with Nellee Hooper, and it was recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas. It first appeared on her 1995 album Post and was released as the fourth single on 12 February 1996, with the B-sides "Isobel", "Cover Me" and "Enjoy". The album version runs 5:21, and the radio and video edit 3:58. The verses are built from three-bar phrases and the choruses from four-bar phrases. The track combines a house beat with a string section conducted by Eumir Deodato. Critics compared it to the work of Aphex Twin, and BBC Music's Mike Diver counted it among the finest songs in Björk's catalogue. Critics at the time considered it the best song of her career so far. It charted in Finland, Australia, the United States, Sweden and the United Kingdom, the last of three top-ten hits from Post. The music video, directed by Michel Gondry, shows a digitised Björk running and falling from a cliff. The song was performed live at the 1997 Tibetan Freedom Concert in New York.
