Only Trust Your Heart is a bossa nova standard from 1964, with music by Benny Carter and English lyrics by Sammy Cahn. Both men are credited as composers on the sheet music, with Carter as composer and Cahn as lyricist in the music database record. The original recording was made by The New Stan Getz Quartet featuring Astrud Gilberto on 22 May 1964 and first released in October 1964 on the album Getz au Go Go, in the bossa nova and Latin jazz style of that session.
Many singers and instrumentalists have recorded the song since. Notable later versions include Benny Carter with Dianne Reeves (1996), a 1995 album by Diana Krall, a 2011 album by Dionne Warwick, and recordings by Ernestine Anderson and Stacey Kent.
