"Give Me Strength" is a blues pop song written and recorded by the British rock musician Eric Clapton, who is credited as both composer and lyricist. Tom Dowd produced it for Clapton's 1974 studio album 461 Ocean Boulevard, released by RSO Records. Before the album appeared, the song was issued in July 1974 as the B-side of Clapton's number-one single "I Shot the Sheriff", on a seven-inch single. Running 2:51, it is in E major, built mostly on major chords with some seventh chords and a single minor chord, A minor. AllMusic classifies it under album rock, hard rock, modern blues, blues rock, contemporary pop rock and adult contemporary. Later versions include those by Kenneth Sivertsen (1998), Gregor Hilden and the Johnny Rogers Band (2001) and Robi Zonca (2010).
