"What A Little Moonlight Can Do" is a popular song with music and lyrics by Harry M. Woods. Woods wrote it while working in London for the British studio Gaumont British, and it was published in 1934. It was introduced in the 1934 film Road House, where Violet Loraine sang it with an introductory verse that is not heard in later recordings. The original recording was made by Harry Roy & His Orchestra at the May Fair Hotel on 2 July 1934. Early recordings include those by Lew Stone and His Band with Al Bowlly, recorded in London in August 1934, by Jack Jackson in 1935, and by Teddy Wilson with Billie Holiday in July 1935. Later versions were recorded by Benny Goodman with Helen Ward, Billy Eckstine, Peggy Lee, Nancy Wilson, Carmen McRae and Diana Ross. The song is classed as popular music and as a jazz standard.
