"A Sunday Kind of Love" is a pop and jazz standard credited to Barbara Belle, Anita Leonard, Stan Rhodes and Louis Prima, and published in 1946. Its original recording was made on 11 November 1946 in New York by Claude Thornhill and His Orchestra, with a vocal by Fran Warren, and released as a single on Columbia in January 1947. The record became Warren's signature song. Louis Prima and his Orchestra issued a version in February 1947, and Ella Fitzgerald recorded it with the Andy Love Quintet for Decca in March of that year. The song's popularity grew with an up-tempo version by The Del-Vikings in 1957, although it never reached the Billboard Top 40. Later recordings include those by Dinah Washington (1959), Etta James (1960), The Marcels (1961), Jan & Dean (1962, reaching No. 95 on the Hot 100), Lenny Welch (1972) and Reba McEntire (1988), whose version made the country top five. The song is in the key of F and has English lyrics. It is featured in the jukebox musical Jersey Boys and in its film version.
