Wonderwall is a song by the English rock band Oasis, written by Noel Gallagher and co-produced with Owen Morris. Originally titled "Wishing Stone", it took its final title from George Harrison's solo album Wonderwall Music. Recorded in May 1995 for (What's the Story) Morning Glory? with Liam Gallagher on lead vocals, it was released as the album's fourth single on 30 October 1995. Set in F-sharp minor, its main riff uses a capo at the second fret, and the acoustic guitar is central to its feel.
It reached the top 10 in about 20 countries, topping the charts in Australia and New Zealand and reaching No. 2 in the UK and Ireland. Cash Box called it "a perfect example of melodic pop", and its video by Nigel Dick won British Video of the Year at the 1996 Brit Awards. Voted No. 1 in Triple J's Hottest 100 of 1995, it became the first 1990s song to reach one billion Spotify streams, in October 2020. Ryan Adams, Cat Power and Brad Mehldau have covered it.
