Miyako is an instrumental jazz composition by Wayne Shorter, and it has no lyrics. Shorter recorded it on 10 March 1967. It was first released on the Blue Note album Schizophrenia, which sources date to 1968 or 1969. The piece is generally classed in the post bop style and is catalogued under jazz.
Several other musicians have recorded it since. Among them are Jimmy Rowles and George Mraz, Bill Cunliffe, Christian McBride, Denny Zeitlin and the Pat Senatore Trio. Their versions show that the composition has been taken up by players from different generations, and the original recording and these later covers together make up its documented performance history.
