"Perfect" is a romantic ballad about traditional marriage by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who wrote the music and lyrics. He wrote it first for his third studio album ÷ (Divide) (2017), about his future wife, Cherry Seaborn, and released it as a single on 26 September 2017. Sheeran produced it with Will Hicks; the string orchestration is by his brother Matthew Sheeran, their first songwriting collaboration. It is in A-flat major (G major live) and 12/8 at 190 bpm, built on the chords A♭5, Fm7, D♭sus2 and E♭, with a vocal range from E♭3 to A♭4.
It debuted at number four on the UK Singles Chart in March 2017. After the Beyoncé duet "Perfect Duet" appeared on 1 December 2017, the song reached number one in the UK and was the 2017 Christmas number one. The original peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the duet topped that chart for five weeks. The video, directed by Jason Koenig and starring Zoey Deutch, was filmed at Hintertux Glacier in Austria. Other versions include "Perfect Symphony" with Andrea Bocelli (15 December 2017) and a version with Camila Cabello and Nicholas Galitzine on the Cinderella (2021) soundtrack. In 2023 Sheeran called it his possible "Yesterday".
