"All or Nothing at All" is a swing standard with music by Arthur Altman and lyrics by Jack Lawrence. The English-language song was composed in 1939 and published that June by Leeds Music Corporation. Its original recording was made that year by Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra, with a vocal chorus by Bob Eberly, and was first released in July 1939 as the single "In the Middle of a Dream".
The best-known version is by Frank Sinatra with Harry James and His Orchestra, recorded on 31 August 1939 at Columbia Studios in New York and first released on Columbia on 2 August 1940. Columbia reissued it in 1943, during the musicians' strike, and it topped the Billboard charts over a 21-week stay, selling over a million copies. It was Sinatra's first big hit. Later interpreters include Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Diana Krall, Bob Dylan and Barry Manilow.
