Celia is an instrumental bebop tune composed by Bud Powell and has no lyrics. Its original performance is Powell's recording from January 1949, made with Ray Brown on bass and Max Roach on drums, and it was first released as a single in 1950. The same recording appeared as the second track, running 3:01, on Powell's 1950 Norgran album Jazz Giant, which was recorded for Norman Granz in 1949 and 1950 and is classed in the bop style.
Celia is a bebop standard that many artists have recorded. Later versions by Phineas Newborn Jr., Charlie Haden Quartet West, Benny Green and Kenny Kirkland are among the many recordings of the tune, which remains part of the bebop repertoire.
