"I'm Getting Sentimental Over You" is a 1932 jazz standard with music by George Bassman and lyrics by Ned Washington. It is a big-band song in English, usually played as a fox trot or at swing tempo. The Dorsey Brothers Orchestra recorded it in 1932 with Jean Bowes on vocals for Brunswick Records, and the orchestra re-recorded it in August 1934 with Bob Crosby on vocals for Decca. Tommy Dorsey recorded it in 1935, and it became his theme song; the 1935 New York session, with Cliff Weston as vocalist, was released in 1936. After Dorsey's death, Frank Sinatra sang it with the Dorsey orchestra on the album I Remember Tommy. Later recordings include versions by Thelonious Monk (1957), Ella Fitzgerald (1960) and Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass (1965), as well as Patti Page, the Ink Spots, Mel Tormé, Bing Crosby and Charles Mingus. The song is heard in the Twilight Zone episode "Static" and in the films Carnal Knowledge, Radio Days and The Garden of the Finzi-Continis.
