Wendy is an instrumental jazz tune with no lyrics, composed by the American alto saxophonist Paul Desmond (1924-1977), who is its only credited writer. Its earliest documented recording was made in 1976 by The Paul Desmond Quartet and released on the live album The Paul Desmond Quartet Live. The recording is classed in the bossa nova and cool jazz styles. Later recordings include versions by Rob McConnell and The Boss Brass (1981), Quarteto JB (1987), Jim Hall (1998), Brent Jensen (2002) and The Phil Swanson Trio (2007).
The tune is discussed among jazz contrafacts, new melodies written over the harmony of an existing song. A 2022 Italian article by Leo Ravera on the subject links Wendy to the 1934 standard "For All We Know".
