"Lover Man (Oh, Where Can You Be?)" is a 1941 popular song in the key of F, written by Jimmy Davis, Roger "Ram" Ramirez and Jimmy Sherman (James Sherman). It was written for Billie Holiday, who recorded it for Decca on 4 October and 8 November 1944. Released as a single in 1945 with "That Ole Devil Called Love" on the B-side, her version reached No. 5 on the R&B chart and No. 16 on the pop chart that year, and it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1989.
The song is classed as jazz and pop and as a ballad. Charlie Parker recorded an instrumental version in July 1946, and Sarah Vaughan recorded it for Guild in 1945 with Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. Later versions include recordings by June Christy, Rosemary Clooney, Chris Connor, Julie London, Carmen McRae, Della Reese, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Patti LaBelle and Samara Joy. Sonny Stitt played it in D flat, though most jazz musicians play it in F.
