"Search For Peace" is an instrumental composed by McCoy Tyner, who is its sole writer. It was first recorded on April 21, 1967, at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and appears as the fourth of the five tracks on The Real McCoy, released by Blue Note in October 1967. Tyner wrote all five tracks on the album. The performance, about 6:32 long, features Tyner on piano, Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone, Ron Carter on bass and Elvin Jones on drums.
The piece is written in a post-bop, modal jazz idiom and has no lyrics. Later versions include recordings by Flora Purim, Eric Alexander and Tom Guarna.
