"Too Shy to Say" is a soul song for which Stevie Wonder wrote both the music and the lyrics. Wonder recorded it on 22 July 1974 as track 3 of the album Fulfillingness' First Finale, released the same day on Tamla, where he is credited as the writer of all the songs. On this recording he sings lead and plays piano, accompanied by James Jamerson on acoustic bass and Sneaky Pete Kleinow on pedal steel guitar. The song was not released as a single. Later versions include Walter Jackson's from 1976, Diana Ross's from 1977 on the album Baby It's Me, and Jody Watley's on Intimacy. Stan Kenton also recorded an instrumental version. The lyrics are in English, and the album is classified as funk and soul.
