"I Used to Be Color Blind" is an English-language popular song with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, who is credited as both composer and lyricist. It was written for the 1938 RKO film Carefree, in which Fred Astaire introduced it.
The original recording was made by Fred Astaire with Ray Noble and His Orchestra on 24 March 1938 and released as a single on the Brunswick label, coupled with "Change Partners" from the same film. The Astaire recording was very popular in 1938. Later versions include Astaire's re-recording for the album The Astaire Story (1952), and recordings by Anita O'Day (1957), Ella Fitzgerald (1958) and Tony Bennett (1975).
