"Nefertiti" is a jazz standard composed by Wayne Shorter, the American jazz saxophonist and composer, and it exists as a composition without lyrics. It is known as a modal jazz piece. The original recording was made by Miles Davis on 7 June 1967 at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York, with his Second Great Quintet. It was first released in early 1968 on the album Nefertiti, issued by Columbia, which is Davis's last fully acoustic album. Later versions include those by Chick Corea, Dave Holland and Barry Altschul (1971), Herbie Hancock (1977), Lee Konitz (1993) and the Uri Caine Trio (2004).
