As Vitrines is a Portuguese-language song with music and lyrics by Chico Buarque, who is credited with both. Buarque recorded it in 1981 as track A1 on his album Almanaque, released in Brazil by Ariola and Philips. The album was recorded at Sigla in Rio de Janeiro and produced by Marco Mazzola. In Brazil the song was placed 95th among the 100 most played songs of 1982. It is classed as MPB, and its styles include samba and bossa nova. Later versions have been recorded by Nelson Gonçalves, Altemar Dutra, Gal, Beto Guedes, Paulinho Moska, Trio Madeira Brasil, Vander Lee and John Patitucci, among others, so the song has been taken up by singers and instrumentalists from several generations.
