"Young at Heart" is a pop standard ballad with music by Johnny Richards and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh. Richards first wrote it as an instrumental called "Moonbeam", and Leigh later added the words. The song was written and published in 1953 by Sunbeam Music. Frank Sinatra was the first to record it, in December 1953 for Capitol Records, and the recording was first released in January 1954. It became a million-selling hit from late 1953 into 1954 and reached No. 2 on the Billboard chart. Its success led a film Sinatra was shooting with Doris Day to be renamed Young at Heart (1955), and the song is heard in the film's opening and closing credits. Other notable recordings were made by Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, Connie Francis, Tony Bennett, Bobby Vinton and George Burns, Tom Waits, Barry Manilow, Bob Dylan, Gloria Estefan and Michael Bublé. Perry Como included it on his 1960 album For the Young at Heart.
