One Morning in May is a 1933 popular song with music by Hoagy Carmichael and lyrics by Mitchell Parish. It is a jazz standard by the two writers and should not be confused with the separate 1930s folk song of the same title. Hoagy Carmichael and His Orchestra recorded it for Victor on 10 October 1933, and the recording was issued as a single coupled with "Armful of Trouble" by Don Bestor and His Orchestra.
Later recordings include Ray Noble with Al Bowlly, which appears on the collection In London 1930-1934, Dick Todd's version of 17 August 1939 for Montgomery Ward, and Mel Tormé's 1958 recording on Prelude to a Kiss. Frankie Randall recorded it for the album Swingin' Touch, and Bucky Pizzarelli recorded an album titled One Morning in May in 2001. Other versions include Ralph Sharon's from 1953, Matt Monro's from 1962 and Bill Charlap's from 2002.
