"My Lucky Star" is a 1929 song with music by Ray Henderson and lyrics by Buddy DeSylva and Lew Brown. DeSylva's credit also appears as B.G. DeSylva. It comes from the Broadway musical Follow Thru, whose book was written by DeSylva and Laurence Schwab. The show opened on January 9, 1929 at the Chanin's 46th Street Theatre, ran for 401 performances, and was choreographed by Bobby Connolly. In the score, the song is sung in Act I, Scene III, At the Sun Porch, by Jerry and the Girls. The opening-night cast included Jack Haley, Zelma O'Neal, Irene Delroy, Don Tomkins and Eleanor Powell. The plot centers on a golf match at the Bound Brook Country Club, a musical slice of country life. Notable 1929 recordings were made by Waring's Pennsylvanians, Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra and Jack Hylton and His Orchestra. The song has English lyrics and is among several songs now regarded as standards.
