Moonlight Saving Time is a vocal song with English lyrics, written by the American songwriters Irving Kahal and Harry Richman, with Kahal credited for both lyrics and music. The first recording was made in 1930 by the Carlton Dance Orchestra and issued as a single titled "Climb Thru' the Clouds", on which the performers were credited as the University Syncopators. In 1931 it was recorded by many artists, including Annette Hanshaw, Ambrose and His Orchestra, Hal Kemp, Guy Lombardo and Maurice Chevalier, which placed it firmly in the dance-band repertoire of the early 1930s. The sheet music is in the key of F. Later recordings include versions by Blossom Dearie, released in 1955 and 1959, and by Barbara Rosene. Dearie's two recordings show that the song stayed in circulation decades after its first release.
