Zoltan is a jazz instrumental composed by the trumpeter Woody Shaw, who is its sole credited writer, and it has no lyrics. Larry Young recorded it on Hammond B-3 organ on November 10, 1965, at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, with Shaw on trumpet, Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone and Elvin Jones on drums. Alfred Lion produced the session for Blue Note, and it was released on the album Unity in 1966 (catalogue BLP 4221). It opens the album and runs 7:41 on the original LP. The piece begins with part of a march from Zoltán Kodály's Háry János suite and continues in the Lydian mode. Unity is widely considered a post-bop classic. Shaw (1944-1989) was an American trumpeter and composer.
