"I Have Dreamed" is a show tune with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, written for the 1951 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I. It was added during the out-of-town tryout, before the Broadway premiere at the St. James Theatre on 29 March 1951, and in the original production Doretta Morrow and Larry Douglas sang it as Lun Tha and Tuptim. For the 1956 film, only the melody is heard, as incidental music before "We Kiss in a Shadow", while the soundtrack album keeps the song, sung by Reuben Fuentes and Leona Gordon. The song is in the key of F. The tune has been accused of similarity to Alfred Newman's "The Hill of the Brilliant Green Jade", though only seven notes match. It has become a standard, with many recordings, including a 1965 single by Chad & Jeremy and versions by Andy Williams, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Julie Andrews, Lena Horne, Tom Jones, Bobby Darin and Johnny Mathis.
