"Cravo e Canela" is a Portuguese-language song in the samba and MPB style, with music and lyrics by Milton Nascimento and Ronaldo Bastos. Its original recording was made in 1971 by Milton Nascimento with Lô Borges, Beto Guedes and Som Imaginário. It was first released as a single and later appeared on the double album Clube da Esquina, issued in 1972 by EMI-Odeon. That year Nascimento and Borges also recorded a duet version of the song.
Nascimento recorded it again in 1976 for his album Milton, where it was given the English title "Clove and Cinnamon". Later versions include recordings by MPB4, Flora Purim, Pery Ribeiro and Leny Andrade, George Duke, Sergio Mendes, Eliane Elias, Ivete Sangalo, Herbie Mann, and Lee Ritenour with Dave Grusin. Many of these versions are instrumental.
