"Room 608" is an instrumental hard bop tune with no lyrics, composed by Horace Silver. The Horace Silver Quintet recorded it for Blue Note, and the track was first released in 1955 as the first track on side A of the album Horace Silver Quintet Vol. 3. In 1956 it was included on the Blue Note compilation Horace Silver and the Jazz Messengers, which draws on Vol. 3 and credits the piece to Silver. Later versions were recorded by groups of the Jazz Messengers era and by other ensembles, among them a live 1959 performance by the Quintet. Classified as jazz in the hard bop style, the tune is not a standard, so its place in the repertoire rests on its recordings.
