"Africa" is a song from 1975 with music by Toto Cutugno and Pasquale Losito and lyrics by Vito Pallavicini and Graham Johnson. It was first recorded by Albatros, an Italian pop group formed in 1974 by Toto Cutugno, and the original performance was released as a single in June 1975. The version is sung in English. It should not be confused with the 1982 song "Africa" by the American band Toto.
Later versions include Joe Dassin's adaptation "L'été indien", along with recordings by Paul Mauriat, Franck Pourcel, Boney M, Manu Dibango, Helmut Lotti and Richard Anthony. Albatros also issued the song on its album Volo AZ 504, released in 1976. Toto Cutugno later became known for "L'Italiano" and won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1990.
