"You're Laughing at Me" is a popular song by Irving Berlin, who wrote both its music and its lyrics for the 1937 film On the Avenue, where Dick Powell introduced it. The earliest known recording was made in January 1937 by Hal Kemp and His Orchestra, with a vocal chorus by Bob Allen, and was released as the single "This Year's Kisses". Other 1937 versions included those by Fats Waller and His Rhythm, recorded in March 1937, and by Wayne King, Shep Fields and Mildred Bailey (Vocalion, January 19, 1937). Later recordings include a 1959 version by Oscar Peterson and one by Ella Fitzgerald on her 1958 album Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Irving Berlin Songbook.
