Orange Colored Sky is a popular song with English lyrics, written by Milton DeLugg (music) and Willie Stein (words) and published in 1950 by Frank Music. The first known recording was made on July 11, 1950, by Janet Brace with Milton DeLugg conducting, for King Records. The best-known version is by Nat King Cole with Stan Kenton's orchestra, recorded on August 16, 1950, and released by Capitol Records. It first reached the Billboard Best Seller chart on September 22, 1950, stayed there for 13 weeks and peaked at number 11.
Other 1950 recordings came from Doris Day, Danny Kaye with Patty Andrews, Jerry Lester and Betty Hutton. The song is said to have been one of the first to become a hit through television exposure. Later versions include those by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Bert Kaempfert, Paul Anka, Michael Bublé and Lady Gaga. Adam West sang it in his Batman costume on Hollywood Palace in 1966, and the Fallout games and television series use the Cole recording.
