Morning is a Latin jazz composition credited to the American pianist and arranger Clare Fischer (1928-2012), who is also listed as its lyricist in some sources. Its lyrics are in English, although many of its versions are instrumental. Fischer recorded the piece in 1965 for the album Manteca!, released on the Pacific Jazz label that year, and it is written in the Afro-Cuban and bossa nova styles.
Cal Tjader recorded the song in 1966, and that version is among the earliest recordings of it by another artist. Later versions include those by Sergio Mendes (1966), the Billy Taylor Trio (1968), Poncho Sanchez (1979), Lorez Alexandria (1979) and Lisa Ono (2005). Fischer's version is the original recording, and the piece has since been taken up by jazz and Latin musicians.
