The St. Vitus Dance is an instrumental jazz composition by Horace Silver, who is its sole writer. The Horace Silver Quintet recorded it at Van Gelder Studio during sessions held on August 29, August 30 and September 13, 1959. The September 13 recording was released in November 1959 on the Blue Note album Blowin' the Blues Away. The piece is associated with the hard bop style. Later versions include recordings by Louis Hayes, Yves Brouqui, the Stockholm Jazz Trio, and Alan Barnes with the David Newton Trio. The composition has no lyrics, so Dee Dee Bridgewater's version, which is sung, is a later vocal treatment of the tune.
