"Russian Lullaby" is a song by Irving Berlin, who wrote both the music and the English lyrics. It was published in 1927 and evokes a Russian mood. It served as a theme song for the sound version of the 1927 film Resurrection.
The first recordings date from 1927: Roger Wolfe Kahn and His Orchestra and Franklyn Baur recorded it in July, Irving Kaufmann also recorded it in 1927, and Jesse Crawford released an instrumental version in September. The song later became a jazz standard, recorded by Tony Bennett, Jerry Garcia, Jimmy Rushing, Leon Redbone, Benny Goodman and John Coltrane, among many others, mostly in jazz and gypsy jazz arrangements.
