"Someone's Rocking My Dreamboat" is an English-language song from 1941, written by Leon René, Otis René and Emerson C. Scott. It is a swing-era jazz vocal number in the big band style. The original recording was made on 5 September 1941 by Erskine Hawkins and His Orchestra, with a vocal refrain by Jimmie Mitchelle, for the Bluebird label (B-11277), coupled with "Hey Doc!". Hawkins, an American trumpeter and bandleader from Birmingham, Alabama, known as "The 20th Century Gabriel", was best known for "Tuxedo Junction".
Early versions followed in 1941 and 1942 by The Ink Spots (Decca 4045, November 1941), Artie Shaw, Woody Herman, Benny Goodman, Shep Fields, Ginny Simms and Vera Lynn. The song was heard in films such as Bullet Scars (1942) and was a favourite of Warner Bros. animators, appearing in several cartoons between 1942 and 1952. Later versions include those by Jackie Paris (1958), Murray Head (1975), Don Estelle (1978), Natalie Cole (1989) and The Swingle Singers (1989).
