"I'm in the Mood for Love" is a popular song published in 1935, with music by Jimmy McHugh and lyrics by Dorothy Fields. It was introduced by Frances Langford in the 1935 film Every Night at Eight and became her signature song; Bob Hope later wrote that her performance was often a show-stopper. The original recording was made in 1935 by Leo Reisman and His Orchestra, with a vocal chorus by Frank Luther, issued on Brunswick 78. Later notable recordings include Louis Armstrong (1935), Billy Eckstine (1946, which reached No. 12 on Billboard), an instrumental version by Erroll Garner (1951), and The Chimes (1961, which reached No. 38 on Billboard). Lord Tanamo recorded a ska version titled "I'm in the Mood for Ska" in 1965. Jools Holland and His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, featuring Jamiroquai, performed the song on Later... with Jools Holland in 2000, a version that paid tribute to Julie London, who had recorded it earlier. Wong Kar-wai's 2000 film In the Mood for Love takes its English title from the song.
