"Better Than Anything" is an English-language vocal jazz standard with lyrics, written by David "Buck" Wheat and Bill Loughborough. Its original recording was made by Irene Kral with The Junior Mance Trio in June 1963 and released that year on the album Better Than Anything, produced by Joe Burnett and recorded at World Pacific Studios in Los Angeles. The track opens the album and runs about 2:21, with Junior Mance on piano, Bob Cranshaw on bass and Mickey Roker on drums.
Later versions include those by Vikki Carr (1964), Bob Dorough (1966), Al Jarreau (1977), Tuck & Patti (1988) and Natalie Cole with Diana Krall (2002). Claire Martin recorded it on her album The Waiting Game (1992), and the song has been recorded by many singers since.
