Fuchsia Swing Song is a jazz composition by the American saxophonist Sam Rivers (1923-2011), who is its sole composer. It is the title track and opening piece of his 1965 debut album of the same name, released on Blue Note in early April 1965 and produced by Alfred Lion. The original recording was made on December 11, 1964, at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, with Rivers on tenor saxophone, Jaki Byard on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams on drums. The song is an instrumental in the hard bop and post bop style of Blue Note at the time. The album was well received by critics. Other musicians have recorded the piece since, including David Binney in 2010.
