"Walkin' My Baby Back Home" is a popular song with music by Fred E. Ahlert and lyrics by Roy Turk, written in 1930. The original recording was made in May 1930 by the Broadway Syncopators. In 1931 it charted in versions by Nick Lucas and Ted Weems, both reaching No. 8, The Charleston Chasers (No. 15) and Lee Morse (No. 18). Maurice Chevalier recorded it for Victor in February 1931, and Louis Armstrong recorded it the same year. Nat King Cole's major hit, recorded in September 1951, reached No. 8 in 1952, and Johnnie Ray's 1952 version reached No. 4 in the United States and No. 12 in the United Kingdom. Later versions include those by Jo Stafford, Harry Richman, Ronnie Dove, Natalie Cole with her father (2008) and Elvis Costello in concert (2013). The song gave its title to the 1953 film Walking My Baby Back Home, starring Donald O'Connor, who performs it. In 1962 Monica Zetterlund recorded a Swedish-lyric version, "Sakta vi gå genom stan", with lyrics by Beppe Wolgers.
